Statistics: Who uses Pinterest

Here are statistics from data collected in early 2017 by Pew Research Center about Pinterest users.  All data is based on the percentage of U.S. adults who use social media.  Before marketing to your customers, you need to know where you can find them.  Women make up 81% of all Pinterest users.  In a majority of U.S. households, women make purchase decisions, from what foods to buy to where to vacation.  Keep this in mind when marketing your product or service on Pinterest.

  • 32% of all 30-49 year olds
  • 24% of all 50-64 year olds
  • 9% of all 65+ years old


  • 18% high school or less
  • 31% some college
  • 33% college graduates

Yearly Income

  • 23% earn less than $30,000
  • 27% earn between $30,000 – $49,999
  • 29% earn between $50,000 – $74,999
  • 34% earn $75,000 or more


  • 26% urban
  • 29% suburban
  • 20% rural
